Light Up The Delaware River Party

Why The Celebration?

Fifteen million people depend on The River for their water. It is currently in possible danger due to potential gas drilling in the area. This Labor Day Weekend, it’s critical that we celebrate the works of the River, its culture, history and people.

When? Sunday, 9-6-09

Where?

The ENTIRE Delaware River -- From Hancock, NY to Philadelphia, PA
Each river community will organize whatever complimentary celebrations they want along their stretch of the river. Beginning at 7 p.m., each person will pour a single cup of water into the River and then, at 7:30 p.m., each will light a candle.  The entire Delaware River Basin and the bridges that link New York and Pennsylvania will be lit. You can go to our party locations page for a river celebration location nearest you.
