Meeting called to order by the Pennsylvania Co- Chair, Mick Drustrup

In attendance: New Jersey Co-Chair, Carol Hoffmann Nancy Janyszeski, PA Vice-Chair, Julie Bell of the National Park Service (NPS) and members of the Management Committee.

 

Introductions of attendees

Approval of the minutes: Motion C Hoffmann -second: John Mauser

Action item: remove draft from minutes on Website

Public Comments: R McNutt reported that the DEP hired additional personnel to oversee gas drilling fracking. Discussion on the fracking waste disposal.

Discussion: Motion by R. McNutt and seconded by M.Kyde to send a letter to PADEP as it relates to problems with drilling and fracking to create a volunteer force to report back anything that they see that is irregular.

Discussion: Use of the river as it applies to river boats and the bank erosion of the Delaware River..

Action Item: J. Bell, NPS, will follow-up on the river bank deconstruction.

 

Wild and Scenic resolutions, Williams Township was given a presentation

 

Action Item: J. Bell to send webmaster the new updated Wild and Scenic Fact Sheet for the website.

 

C Hoffmann, Milford Mill – no report

 

N. Janyszeski – 2 nd round water testing, announced DEP meeting dates

Action Item: put on website

 

Presentation: J Bell, NPS – Grant Money amount announced in April 8, 2011

Motion: R McNutt seconded by N. Janyszeski to approve proposed project funding as proposed. The Grantees recused themselves from the vote.

 

Delaware River Sojourn starts, in Callicoon, on the 18 th June and ending in Bristol on the 25 th of June, 2010

Action : Kate O’Hara’s DRBC site for the Sojourn

 

The Delaware River is the River of the year for 2011.Next meeting: June 2011, in New Jersey. Stockton Inn, Monday night either June 13 or June 27, 2011

 


 

 

The Delaware River is the longest free flowing river east of the Mississippi River.
The Delaware River has the longest water quality anti degradation policy of any river in the United States of America.
