Volunteers needed for Project River Bright

Volunteers with canoes and kayaks are needed to help out with the annual Project River Bright, which will take place on Saturday, June 6 from 8:00 AM until 2 PM. The event is sponsored by the Delaware River Greenway Partnership with support from the Delaware Valley Division - American Canoe Association and National Canoe Safety Patrol - Lower Delaware Chapter.

This year's Project River Bright will remove trash and litter from a 9-mile stretch of the Delaware River between Riegelsville and the Giving Pond Recreation Area. As an American Canoe Association sanctioned event Project River Bright will follow the safety guidelines set by that organization. Volunteers must provide their own boat and will be required to wear a life jacket at all times while on the water. The event sponsor will provide materials for the cleanup including trash bags, gloves, bottled water, and a post-cleanup lunch.

For more information and to pre-register for the event please contact John Brunner at: riverhealer@gmail.com

To stay up-to-date with events and issues of interest to paddlers visit the Delaware Valley Division of the American Canoe Association website.
